Gratitude is a meditation of singular IMPORTANCE! TODAY, before the stress and pressure, the disappointments and activities, the lists, commitments and cranky relatives steal our attention make a GRATITUDE list! If your life seems overwhelming or unfair, start with gratitude for your eyes and ears, for a beating heart, for all the parts of your body that work well and the parts that need better self-care. Gratitude for every gift unique to you: art, song, athletics, brains, ATTITUDE! Add Gratitude for every challenge that you have met, for every time you have refused to give up, and for knowing the difference between victories and defeats. BE GRATEFUL for the natural world we take for granted: every blade of grass that makes a carpet for our steps, even if those steps are tentative: trees and for the breeze that sings through them; sun, rain and dirt that grows food in plentitude and gratitude for workers who grow, pick, wash, pack, ship and deliver food and those who cook, prepare and dine with you! GRATITUDE for soldiers, doctors, nurses, railway workers, police, fire fighters and all those who juggle their lives and celebrations so that we are protected and SERVED today. GRATITUDE for the profound PRIVILEGE of being alive and for loving and being loved in big and small ways. Remember, those who care most and for many, and truly live life with THEIR HEARTS OPEN and their SPIRITS YOUNG are the most grateful in the best and worst of times.
