Monday Mantra 77

September 1, 2014

"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live." - George Bernard Shaw

The life well led is the life one shares. When that life is unselfish, open, generous and true, first to oneself and then to the gathered community, life truly becomes worth living. AND the opposite is also true: when life becomes small, self-obsessed or isolated, we actually ADD to our own suffering and limit the power and reach of our community to hear all voices, and make all dreams real and alive for the common good. When we are "thoroughly used up," for that common good, we are thoroughly of value!
