"Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a DESTINY."

Message From Bobbie:

Thought creates action and repeated ACTIONS create habits that soon become self-fulfilling patterns. Patterns of behavior are often elusive, but over time become decisive, demanding and a vicious form of self-identity. Patterns are sometimes hidden inside other patterns. They can perhaps be of our own making, but more likely are the result of our connections to other patterns like our families, friends or cultures that we are most attached to.

Patterns are interdependent with larger systems making them hard to dig out and examine. They are sustained and woven together by so many other patterns that they appear REAL and UN-CHANGEABLE! The "new seed" concept can be overwhelming or frightening. It challenges us to think deeply about patterns we believe represent safety and certitude.

Instead of allowing ourselves to have creative, innovative, ideas to "sow a new seed" of behavior or thought, we get in our own way with familiar fears that begin to determine our lives. As it turns out, the LIFE PURPOSE we never thought of independent of the system, becomes the unintended outcome.

There is another and better way!

We can change our thoughts to reap NEW ACTIONS and our INTENDED DESTINY! New thought can always be found in education and experiences that stretch our hearts, minds and spirits and lead to self-examination before they become HABITS!

JUNE: this is our month, as our gardens begin to grow, to understand the PATTERNS that determine the health, wealth, wholeness OR toxic waste dump environment of our inner garden. PATTERNS can connect to other patterns that keep us away from our higher and best self OR they can connect us to a deeper and more whole future!

Featured Journal Entry:

Patterns and Destiny

"Aimee tells us at the beginning of a Rise Up! session: "I hate that feeling I get of 'how the hell did I get HERE?' Sometimes it feels like I am back at square one in my life; 'repeating the same behavior, expecting different results.'

A different relationship, job, or project that after awhile closely resembles the dysfunctional last one! The one that, with just a tweak here and there, is like all the past choices in a different wrapping! OBLIGATION is the thought-seed that was planted years ago. It's so 'natural' for me, so ingrained from early childhood when I cared for my sick mother and younger siblings. It's OBLIGATION that became the PATTERN of my own behavior."

"Honestly, I believed I'd done all the inner work I needed to do in a lifetime! My family's problems aren't new to me and aren't so mysterious! BUT, here at Rise Up! I found a hidden "thought-seed" so deeply buried the other work I'd done hadn't DUG IT UP! The thought that finally broke the pattern, for me, was my unconscious, unheard, message of OBLIGATION!"

Featured Exercise:

If you haven’t gotten a Rise Up! notebook or journal to keep EXERCISE work in one place, now would be a great time.

  1. REMEMBER, the work is never easy; but it IS worth it. CHANGING PATTERNS can take half a lifetime, or MORE; BUT that change is an essential INTERVENTION in allowing your brain to re-program itself and your life to change according to YOUR PLANS AND YOUR LIFE PURPOSE. Your mind, body, spirit and emotions can't support change if your BRAIN is REPEATING old tapes!
  2. The first step is to be CALM: meditate; find a quiet place to STAY and listen to the messages that run through your brain. Yes just listen.
  3. HERE are some HINTS to finding a PATTERN: Whenever you hear absolutes such as "always, must, have-to; all-of-the-time; ONLY me, never, can't, here I go again…" etc. they are warning signals that a PATTERN is trying to get your attention and make you BEHAVE a certain way! IMMEDIATELY STOP THE "REMINDERS" and write down the words you hear.
